WHAT DOES IT MEAN TO BE “NORMAL”?

Explore this question and other questions about disability, the body, representation, and access with the Disability Studies Minor. Learn about ‘disability’ as a social construction and intellectual framework to understand the human experience.

Through a core course, carefully selected electives, a required two-quarter internship, and a senior capstone, students in the minor obtain breadth and depth in their understanding of the conceptual and practical implications of disability. Once you know what to look for, you can find ‘disability’ everywhere.

This information session will provide an introduction to disability studies and explain how to apply to the minor. Current disability studies minors have interests in education, performing arts, social work, public health, occupational therapy, speech pathology, architecture, law, nursing, medicine and more.

This minor is open to all UCLA majors.
