The Division of Undergraduate Education at UCLA invites applications for the position of Academic Administrator for the Freshman Cluster Program, for the Undergraduate Education Initiatives (UEI) department.
The Academic Administrator for the Freshman Cluster Program facilitates the intellectual and pedagogical development of general education freshman cluster courses. In this role, the Administrator works with the Director of the program to engage departments, programs, and their faculty to support existing freshman clusters and to develop, organize, and teach in new ones (e.g., Chinese Classics, Religious Cultures of the Mediterranean, Visual Arts). This individual also assists with the management, training, and mentoring of cluster graduate student instructors. In addition to these cluster-related responsibilities, the cluster academic administrator also serves as a resource to faculty in advancing initiatives aimed at improving the quality of undergraduate education.
The candidate for this role should have the following qualifications: Ph.D.; experience and demonstrated success teaching undergraduates; knowledge of interdisciplinary instruction and collaborative teaching; understanding of the uses and limitations of teaching technologies; strong interpersonal skills to bring together faculty, graduate student instructors, and other academic personnel (i.e. librarians, tutors, etc.) in collaborative projects; and some administrative experience in academic program coordination.
Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience. Hiring salary range is $63,960 to $68,676/year.

The Division of Undergraduate Education at UCLA invites applications for the position of Coordinator of Academic Initiatives for the Undergraduate Education Initiatives (UEI) department.
The Coordinator of Academic Initiatives (Academic Coordinator) is responsible for the administration of all freestanding interdisciplinary minors (Civic Engagement, Disability Studies, Food Studies, and Social Thought) in the Division of Undergraduate Education, all courses offered under the University Studies subject area, the University of California Center Sacramento program, and other curricular/academic initiatives that require cross-divisional coordination. The Coordinator coordinates the administrative and academic advising support of three professional staff, who are responsible for student recruitment, advising (i.e., admission requirements, career planning, specialization, faculty research interests, etc.) and monitoring of progress. The Coordinator also collaborates with the minor chairs and advisory committees to recruit faculty, develop curriculum, plan events, secure additional funding (OID mini-grants, etc.), and expand awareness of the programs both on and off campus, and also advises the minor faculty and supporting staff on proposal processes and procedures for Academic Senate review, determines relevant rules and regulations, establishes appropriate courses of action, monitors progress, recommends program changes, and oversees the CIMS process for courses in these programs.
Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience. Hiring salary range is $63,960 to $77,004/year.
The successful candidate must have a Master’s degree and knowledge of issues in higher education; experience working with academic policy and programs at a large public research university; knowledge of UCLA processes and procedures preferred; broad familiarity with existing curriculum, programs and services for UCLA undergraduates; experience with academic advising in a higher education setting; skills in information retrieval and data management; demonstrated interpersonal and communication skills, and the ability to interact effectively in programs and activities involving faculty, staff, and students; possess interpersonal skills to interact effectively with persons of differing social, educational, economic and cultural backgrounds; have the ability to be flexible and pay attention to detail while keeping in mind the overall mission of the Division and Undergraduate Education Initiatives.
